Artisan Millwright - Job Specification

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose

To maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and optimize production machinery and equipment to ensure maximum plant availability, efficiency, product quality, and safety within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
• Conduct machine inspections and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
• Install, align, dismantle, and commission machinery and plant equipment.
• Ensure minimum production downtime through rapid fault finding and repairs.
• Maintain maintenance records, job cards, and inspection reports.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and food safety standards.
• Assist with planned shutdowns, overhauls, and equipment upgrades.
• Work closely with production teams to optimize equipment reliability.

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Tested Artisan Millwright (advantageous).
• 3-5 years' experience as a Millwright in an FMCG, beverage, food, or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and packaging equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Computer literacy (MS Office and maintenance management systems).
• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
